The horse, Equus caballus - majestic animal of power and grace, long used by man for riding and bearing loads. Ask any equestrian, and they will tell you about the special bond that exists between a horse and it's rider. Much more than a mere hobby, riding, for some, approaches a spirtual revelation, without which their lives seem empty and without purpose. This all consuming passion, spirit, and connection focuses and defines their lives.

an imposing challenge. The horse, as equestrians know, can be.... uncooperative.
Their strides contain many complicated movements, all of which must line
up in perfect synchronicity on film to present them in their full glory.
In portraiture, the seemingly simple act of gaining their focus and attention
(in order to orient those important ears properly) may well become a test
of patience and ingenuity for both rider/handler and photographer. Keeping
both rider and horse clean and presentable sometimes resembles trying
to herd a mob of 2nd graders through a minefield of mud puddles on their
way to church in their Sunday best! That's not to say it isn't fun...
Capturing that essence and interplay between horse and equestrian remains both challenging and rewarding to me. While most of my dressage work occurs at larger competition events, my passion lies in working with you and your horse in 1 on 2 sessions, creating something that will hopefully be not just a photograph to you, but a vivid memory of a brilliant time with an amazing friend. I offer portrait sessions by the hour and daily rates, in order to best suit your needs. During sessions, I work closely with my clients to insure that we create the art that they are seeking, whether that be a stunningly posed stallion shot, action shots with horse and rider in motion, or casual candid interaction shots of horse and rider.
